Biography:

Upon leaving Oxford University, James Reeve travelled to Madrid where for five years he studied in the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando.  Afterwards, he entered as a novice in the Order of the Jeronimos Monks, an enclosed  monastery located in Segovia.

He abandoned this vocation after a serious illness and for many years travelled to far away places such as Uganda, Haiti, Madagascar, the Australian desert, Rajasthan and Yemen, searching for inspiration for his paintings.

Finally he found his true home in Mexico. Of the 20 years that he has been living in this country, he spent the first 15 in Xilitla, a small town in the huasteco country, and for the past 5 years he has lived in the historic center of downtown Mexico City, an experience that has been the source of inspiration for his most recent work.
