Armando Zesatti, born in Mexico City in 1967, currently lives and works between Mexico City and Valencia, Spain. From an early age he devoted his free time to drawing. He studied the career of Business Administration and worked in the family business. After finishing his studies he decided to take a gap year to devote himself full-time to painting. He never expected that his early success would lead him to turn his passion into his profession.
His paintings center on photo-realism, and his use of light makes one feel as if they were viewing the actual image or a photograph. Zesatti proposes to imitate nature and for this he chooses large format canvases, working from his own photographs and primarily in acrylics, in order to reproduce every detail and stick as close as possible to reality. His subjects are dedicated to series of palms, mangroves, trees, stones, glens, seascapes, ponds, always alone, without the presence of man, proving that nature is the protagonist.
Although his work is in high demand in Mexico, for six years he has worked much of his time in Valencia, Spain, which has allowed him other latitudes that have currently inspired his work.
Since 1999 Galeria Interart has held 6 very successful exhibitions of the artist, and his work appears and sells in the international auction houses of Sotheby’s and Christie’s Latin American Art in New York.
